On December 15th, a team of media folks, techies, designers and artists is launching the beta test version of a new progressive news, views and arts website for the Boston area. If you're a fan of democracy, social justice, fair and accurate reporting, and fun, then you'll want to check us out.

We're calling the site Open Media Boston, and we're looking for experienced journalists and essayists, photographers, radio and video producers, and digital artists (or artists whose work can be digitized) who are interested to become regular contributors. We're particularly interested to talk to folks who'd like to cover one of the various community, political, and thematic "beats" that we'll run content about on an ongoing basis. Be it a community like Roxbury or Allston, a polity like the State House or Boston City Hall, or a interesting theme like Anti-War or Technology or Theater, Open Media Boston wants coverage in text, photos, audio and video. We're also planning to make room for academic publications and youth media--and doubtless other areas of interest we haven't thought of yet.

You're invited to the final Waves of Change live Internet TV broadcast for this season. Join global innovators, filmmakers and social entrepreneurs to discuss media, music and technology as tools to promote social change as well as share your views on the social media landscape now and what it holds for the future. In addition to providing a networking platform for agents of change, the broadcast will explore strategies for improving the visibility of social and environmental issues in all forms of the media and arts.

Organizers’ Collaborative is looking for an individual or organization to share its 200 sq. ft, office on Beacon Street. Just a block away from the State House and the Park Street T stop, it is in easy walking distance from both North and South Stations. The builiding houses a number of other progressive folks (i.e. Boston Women’s Fund, Community Change, Project Think Different) as well.

The first ever Plone sprint in Boston is going to be happening July 18-23, 2007 at the Christian Science Center (where we hold the monthly Boston Plone meetups). At the meeting on Wednesday, we will discuss planning for the upcoming sprint, including fixing up the bostonplone.org site. We will plan the logistics to make sure it's a smooth experience for everyone who participates. Bring your ideas and enthusiasm!
