Rethinking Nonprofit Communications in a Web 2.0 World

This session offers a practical framework for evaluating traditional websites (think Dreamweaver) against the communication possibilities of the current generation of content management systems (notably, drupal).

  • Audit your current communication strategies and think strategically about your audiences
  • Assess the advantages and disadvantages adding interactive features to an existing traditional web site.
  • Explore how CMS systems provide options such as blogs, news and news feeds, calendars for content fresh and lively for public communication
  • Evaluate how web 2.0 tools can accelerate community building, collaborative learning, and more effective organizing.

We will use examples from recent drupal web projects while also highlighting other tool options. You are encouraged to pose questions to help frame the discussion now at http://www.dbdes.com/grtech07
